Synchronization of the Contractor’s Registration Categories

Home 9 Announcements 9 Synchronization of the Contractor’s Registration Categories

The National Construction Industry Council of Malawi was established by an Act of Parliament, Cap 53:05 of the Laws of Malawi, with the mandate of regulation, promotion and development of the Construction Industry in Malawi.  Among its many functions, the Council is mandated to prescribe and vary the categories for the registration of all persons engaged in the Construction Industry.

In order to effectively implement this role, the Council has synchronized the registration categories for all Local/Malawian contractors to be uniform in all branches of construction (Building, Civil and Electrical) and revised registration and renewal fees for the relevant categories accordingly. The process has led to abolishment of some categories and all the affected members will be individually communicated to about their status in due course.

The synchronized categories with relevant fess are as indicated in the table below and the changes are with effect from 1st July 2017, as published in Government Notices No. 32; National Construction Industry (Fees and Forms), Regulation 2017  and 33; National Construction Industry (Synchronized Categories of Construction Contractors) Regulation 2017  dated 30th June 2017.
