Home 9 Announcements 9 Call For Abstracts – 6th International Construction Conference

Construction Innovation, Excellence and Sustainability for Inclusive Economic Growth”

NKOPOLA LAKE CONFERENCE CENTRE, MANGOCHI, MALAWI, 1st TO 3RD AUGUST, 2018

The National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) was established by an Act of Parliament in 1996 (Cap 53:05 of the Laws of Malawi) to Regulate, Promote and Develop the construction industry in Malawi. Since then, the Council together with its stakeholders continue to exert efforts towards creating an enabling environment for the development of a vibrant, efficient and sustainable local construction industry that meets the demand for its services to support sustainable local development objectives. The Council envisions a sustainable and internationally competitive industry that is able to positively respond to industry demand as well as technological advancement in provision of quality infrastructure products and services nationally and internationally.

The Construction Industry contributes significantly to the social economic development of many countries through provision of products and services that support agriculture, transport, health, education and many other sectors. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), recently adopted by the United Nations, just as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) before them, have again given the Construction Industry prominence in achieving resilient and sustainable economic growth. We consider this as a direct call for stakeholders in the industry to double their efforts to address challenges facing the sector and take full advantage of available opportunities to effectively contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.

In keeping with its vision, mission and goals, NCIC is planning to host the 6th International Construction Conference in August, 2018 in Mangochi. It is envisaged that the conference will provide a platform for stakeholders to share experiences, tease out solutions to challenges facing the industry and strategize on the future of the industry.
