NCIC Strategic Plan launched – talks quality and transformation

The National Construction Industry Council (NCIC) launched its five-year strategic plan on Monday the 29th of May 2023 in Lilongwe. Presided over by the Minister of Transport and Public Works, Hon. Jacob Hara, MP, the 2023-2028 strategic direction places emphasis on quality ad transformation of infrastructure while spelling out strategic directions that will enable the construction industry effectively to contribute to the Malawi Vision 2063.

Speaking during the launch, the Honorable Minister indicated that the new strategic plan has come at the right time when the Malawian construction industry is at a critical juncture that requires collective soul searching is frantic response to climate change and weather induced shocks on infrastructure and the recovery process that the country has embarked on. He further directed stakeholders in the industry to quickly address challenges affecting effective and quality delivery of infrastructure in the country.

On his part, the chairperson of the NCIC Board, QS. Jeremiah Magaba noted that the strategic plan is an instrument for wealth creation in line with Government’s agenda of creating an inclusively wealth nation. While committing the board’s dedication to ensuring that the strategic plan is delivered, the chairperson also called for collaboration amongst stakeholders for the Malawian construction industry to contribute to the social-economic growth of the country.

In his remarks, Chief Executive Officer for NCIC, Eng. Gerald Khonje expressed NCIC’s commitment to lead from the front for the transformation, sustainability and quality driven construction industry. He further called for partnership amongst all stakeholders to achieve the vision espoused by the new strategic plan.
